Gabrielle Union made her debut with a small role in She’s All That, but it wasn’t until she starred as a rival cheerleader in the comedy
Bring It On that audiences began to take notice of her. She has since gone on to appear in films of various genres -- including action (Bad Boys II), comedy (Deliver Us from Eva) and thriller (Abandon).
Gabrielle’s only wide release in 2005, cinematically speaking, was the
Honeymooners remake, which cast her opposite Cedric the Entertainer and (the film was a critical and financial flop). She didn’t fare much better with
Night Stalker, a television series costarring Stuart Townsend (a.k.a. Mr. ) that was axed after only a handful of airings.
2006 is looking to be a lot sunnier for Gabrielle, as she will be costarring with such big names as , Annette Bening and Alec Baldwin in
Running with Scissors, an adaptation of Augusten Burroughs’ best-selling novel of the same name. Gabrielle will also be seen in the quirky comedy
Say Uncle, which casts her opposite Yes, Dear’s Anthony Clark and has already received a warm reception at several film festivals (including the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and the Cardiff International Film Festival).
