What isn’t she known for? Jennifer Lopez started her career as a “Fly Girl” on In Living Color and with appearances in a series of failed sitcoms throughout the mid-‘90s. After forgettable roles in box-office flops, such as Money Train and Jack, the erstwhile J.Lo finally hit the big time with a star-making turn as slain pop star Selena in the film of the same name. Following failed relationships with celebrities, such as and , Jennifer finally settled down with singer in 2004.
Following the Great Gigli Debacle of 2003, Jennifer has been keeping a low profile -- both personally and professionally. Despite her best efforts to keep out of the spotlight, the controversy revolving around Jennifer’s continued support of fur reached a boiling point after (a.k.a. Mrs. ) publicly implored J.Lo to stop wearing animal products. Cinematically speaking, Jennifer followed Monster-in-Law (a surprise hit) with the dud An Unfinished Life in September.
Jennifer is currently slated to appear in three films in the coming year, all of which have a distinctly dramatic bent. Bordertown reunites Jennifer with Selena director (Gregory Nava) in a story about a journalist investigating a series of murders, while America’s Darlings is a period piece revolving around pre-World War II swing musicians. Finally, Jennifer will be seen opposite husband Marc Anthony in El Cantante -- proving that neither Jennifer nor Marc has ever heard the old adage: “Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.” (Gigli, anyone?)
