Hailing from down under, Holly Valance made her mark as a singer with the release of
Footprints in 2002. In the video for that album's single, "Kiss Kiss," it looked like she was dancing naked -- a time-honored way to make a name for oneself. She followed it up with the less-successful
State of Mind in 2003, then turned to acting on American TV shows like , since she had already appeared on the Australian soap .
Last year allowed Holly to make a good showing on some popular TV shows,
including CSI:NY, and the acclaimed new drama Prison Break. The added acting exposure certainly helped, as Holly's music career has stalled since she was dropped by her record company and was successfully sued by her former manager when she broke her contract to fire him in 2003.
In 2006, Holly Valance will try to break into movies. She'll appear in
National Lampoon's Pledge This!, starring , and DOA: Dead or Alive, based on the video game. But since neither is exactly a prestige picture, or even a starring vehicle for Holly, the upcoming year probably won't be the one in which she makes a breakout of her own.
