Katherine began working as a child model at the age of 9 and made her silver screen debut in That Night when she was 13. Subsequent big-screen appearances in King of the Hill, My Father the Hero, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, and Bride of Chucky led to her co-starring role on the WB series Roswell.
Since the cancellation of Roswell in 2002, 2005 was Katherine's busiest year. She appeared with in The Ringer, played Romy White in the made-for-television prequel Romy and Michele: In the Beginning and joined the ensemble cast of ABC's hospital drama Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens.
In 2005, US Weekly and The Biography Channel both spotlighted Katherine as an actress who will likely make a major splash in 2006. She'll be seen by millions of TV viewers who are tuned into ABC after Superbowl XL wraps up, as she’ll appear in a special episode of her hit series Grey's Anatomy. In addition, her upcoming big-screen feature, Caffeine, will give her the opportunity to display her comedic talents.
