A newcomer to the R&B scene, Ciara Harris joined a short-lived girl group before releasing her own solo album, 2004's
Goodies. While that's the extent of her output so far, Ciara's already had exposure on
Soul Train, Total Request Live, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The Tonight Show with
.
Since Ciara only debuted in late 2004, it makes sense that she had many milestones in 2005. By January, her single "Goodies" had hit No. 1 in the U.S. and the UK, and other singles from her debut CD, including "1, 2 Step" and "Oh," made it high on the charts throughout the year. Ciara could be heard on the
Coach Carter soundtrack and seen accompanying to the MTV Video Music Awards.
It looks like the coming year will be a good one for Ciara. Not only is she up for four Grammys, but she's rumored to have a fifth single release in the works. And, like many a singer before her, Ciara is branching out into movies. She'll star in
Rumble, an inner-city high school volleyball movie; it's just too bad it won't be about beach volleyball.
