Beyonce Knowles was part of the R&B trio , ever since the group's impressive 1998 debut. Beyonce's 2003 solo debut, Dangerously in Love, made her the top-selling R&B artist of the year and netted her five Grammys. As if that weren't enough, Beyonce has also had success in movies, most notably for her role of Foxxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers: Goldmember.
Although 2005 didn't see many music or movie releases featuring Beyonce, the year marked the disbanding of Destiny's Child, certainly a turning point for all its members. After Destiny's Child's final tour, Beyonce launched her own clothing line, called House of Dereon, and was also active with many charities, doing good work for the benefit of Hurricane Katrina survivors, amongst others.
There's every indication that Beyonce will keep scoring hits in multiple media during the coming year. She's slated to star as a -like character in Dreamgirls and will appear in an upcoming remake of The Pink Panther. In addition, her sophomore solo album is expected in September 2006, sure to be as big a hit as Dangerously in Love.
