When Paz Vega was saddled with the “Introducing” tag for her work in 2004’s
Spanglish, this exotic beauty was already a veteran of Spanish film and television. She starred in that country’s
Friends clone, 7 Vidas, which proved to be as popular there as Chandler et al were here. She quickly shed her squeaky-clean image in the erotically-charged flick
Sex & Lucia and eventually won the costarring role in the aforementioned
Spanglish.
After her scene-stealing performance in Spanglish, Paz found herself showered with scripts, and spent much of 2005 jetting back and forth between the U.S. and Spain making the films she chose. So it may look like this onyx-haired starlet has a huge gap in her resume with a film-free 2005, but rest assured: She wasn’t sitting around eating bonbons. All Paz’s hard work in 2005 comes to fruition in 2006 with six films due for release. She has been hard at work perfecting her English for her roles in
Fade to Black, December Boys and the much anticipated Roman epic Memoirs of Hadrian. She’ll also be slipping into her more comfortable Spanish-speaking skin for
Los Borgia, Teresa, Muerte y Vida and Un Angel en la Oscuridad, giving you a real reason to see your first foreign film.
