Southern Belle Faith Hill managed to separate herself from the desperate masses of pretty young girls hoping for a break in Nashville. After sending out countless demos, she was “discovered” while casually singing to herself in a record company office. From there, she has gone on to win a closet full of Grammy’s and put out six platinum records and nine No. 1 hits, including “Just Breathe,” “The Way You Love Me,” and the embarrassingly sing-along-able “This Kiss.”
Another year, another No. 1 record. Faith released Fireflies (her sixth album) in August, and it quickly flew up to No. 1 on both the Billboard Top 200 and Billboard Country Albums. It was a comeback of sorts, after 2002’s Cry was largely ignored by her core country fans. She also performed at Live 8 in Rome, gracing the Italian fans with a set that included a duet with hubby (whom we want to hate, but can’t!).
The tragedy of Hurricane Katrina hit close to home for the Mississippi-born songstress. She has already dedicated vast amounts of time and money to relief efforts and has vowed to continue until the job is done. She is a dedicated mother and wife, too -- so unfortunately will be dedicating a lot of her time to these private functions. Sigh.
