Most guys missed seeing Scarlett Johansson’s break out performance because it came in
The Horse Whisperer. But luckily for us, some poor soul suffered through ’s mumbling long enough to notice her lips… uh, talent, leading to her real breakthrough in 2003’s
Lost in Translation. It was an unforgettable role, where she vamped around in a see-through tank top and drove (and men from Toronto to Tokyo) mad with desire.
After a busy 2004, in which she starred in five feature films, this New York-born beauty took things easy in 2005. Scarlett did manage to blow away critics in
Match Point, Woody Allen’s latest under-appreciated film and starred in ’s gigantic box office disaster,
The Island, with . Despite the fact that The Island lost almost $100 million, A-list directors like Woody Allen and Brian De Palma are still banking on Scarlett’s flawless skin and supple lips to carry films like
Scoop and The Black Dahlia. She is serious about her craft, so expect to see more art and less car chases. This is a good thing, since many of those art-house films involve bathtubs or slow-motion naked running.
