Now here’s a woman worth Czeching out. This Czech-born supermodel rose to national prominence in 2003 when she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition.
2005 was a year of heartbreak and recovery for Petra, as she dealt with the tragic death of her boyfriend, Simon Atlee. The pair had been staying at a Thai resort when a tsunami caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake struck. Atlee was killed, and Petra managed to survive only by clinging to the top of a tree for eight hours, all while nursing a broken pelvis and internal injuries. Glamour magazine has since awarded Petra its "Survivor Award."
Look for Petra to return to the world of modeling with a vengeance in 2006. The extraordinary beauty is fully healed both physically and mentally, and is eager to make her mark. Future work with Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated is a distinct possibility.
